Tampere Showcases Groundbreaking Digital Twin at EU CONEXUS Conference

The City of Tampere's innovative approach to urban planning through digital twin technology was in the spotlight at the Digital Twin Conference - EU-CONEXUS Enables: Best Practices and Case Studies, hosted by the Technical University of Civil Engineering Bucharest.

Jasper de Jonge, Specialist in Strategic Project at the City of Tampere, presented the city’s pioneering WeGenerate Digitwin. The project empowers residents, businesses, and entrepreneurs by integrating real-time traffic flows, pedestrian data, seasonal weather insights, and augmented reality simulations into a dynamic digital model of the city.

Designed with sustainability, safety, and inclusivity in mind, Tampere’s digital twin is positioned as a powerful tool for co-creating future urban scenarios, strengthening resilience, and supporting smart city decision-making.

The conference also featured cutting-edge presentations from European experts on the use of digital twins in climate-neutral planning, coastal conservation, and human-centric urban design, underlining the growing role of virtual technologies in shaping the cities of tomorrow.
