WeGenerate Featured on Metabuilding Platform Innovation Overview

The WeGenerate project has been featured in a newly published innovation overview on the Metabuilding platform, a European digital platform designed to connect innovators, researchers, and industry stakeholders across the built environment value chain. The document presents a curated selection of EU-funded projects contributing to the transition towards a sustainable, climate-neutral built environment, with a focus on scalable and replicable solutions.

Developed in the context of STAR*track and shared across the Built4People Innovation Cluster Network, the overview brings together initiatives addressing key challenges in the construction and energy sectors, including digitalisation, decarbonisation, circularity, and social innovation. It aims to strengthen knowledge exchange and increase the visibility of solutions with demonstrated potential for real-world implementation.

As a Horizon Europe Innovation Action, WeGenerate advances climate-neutral urban regeneration across four pilot cities: Cesena, Cascais, Bucharest (District 2), and Tampere. The project deploys integrated, place-based solutions, including an Urban Digital Twin in Bucharest for scenario simulation and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions analysis, and a Digital Platform for Active Energy Communities in Cascais that enables citizens to design and assess collective energy strategies. In Cesena, a smart Park & Ride system optimises commuter parking through mobile applications and Bluetooth-based technologies.

These technological interventions are complemented by the WeGenerate Impact Model, a KPI-based assessment framework designed to evaluate environmental, social, and socio-economic performance at neighbourhood scale. Together, these components integrate digital innovation, energy transition, and participatory governance, supporting data-driven decision-making and inclusive, zero-carbon urban transformation.

The publication of this overview reinforces WeGenerate’s position within the European innovation landscape and highlights its contribution to a growing ecosystem of solutions supporting the objectives of the Built4People partnership. It also creates further opportunities for collaboration, replication, and upscaling across different urban contexts in Europe.

The full document is available via the Metabuilding platform and provides insights into the latest projects shaping the future of Europe’s built environment.
